Quick reply "problem"

This might be just me but I often use the quick reply box. But for some reason I find the reply to thread button irresistible and click it instead of the submit button.

If it is possible and not too hard could the reply to thread button perform the same function of the "go advanced" button and copy the contents of the quick reply box.

If not I will just have to be more careful or always go advanced.

Graham

Ah, I see the issue. Your message gets deleted if you hit the 'reply to thread' button, yeah I could look into some solutions for that. Something like hiding the reply to thread button while the quick reply is up, or user-preference for reply variant.
I'll see what I can do,

Thanks very much, I know I'm not the only one to make this mistake, sometimes after a long reply ones brain doesn't seem to function as it should any more :)

Yep, still looking into it when I have free time. Last test attempt made it so that i could make the entire page disappear when clicking a quick reply button.
I'll find a nice solution for it.

This one has caught me a couple times and ended up trashing some good posts. I've started getting in the habit of selecting everything in the rely and saving it on the clipboard until I see the reply is accepted. At least I save all the typing that way.

It's caught me a few times too. For long posts, I also copy what I've typed before submitting. (Not for this one, though :) ).

You can totally Bump Bump; I got side-tracked by launching a whole new website. I still have this on my list of Forum's to-dos.

Bump, I like your avatar, but it reminds of the time we took care of a couple of newborn kittens that were abandoned by their mother. The vet told us that we should gently wipe them down with a moist hand towel after we bottle-fed them. This simulates the cuddling and licking action that the mother would naturally do. This action wasn't so much for cleaning them, but it was done to stimulate bowel movements -- and it worked quite well! ;)

    BUMP BUMP BUMP

But even if you can't do it, consider doing this. Change the text from "reply to thread" to "new reply". That will fix the humans while the software can remain broke.

I've hit the 'reply to thread' instead of 'submit' several times!

Aye I have this one still; the text reply seems like a cool ability but it's not simple, unfortunately. I think what I've been working on may assist with this problem; it is being tested on my test forums.
