having trouble playing WAV files of various bit rates

I am able to play a WAV file that is a sound effect with a bit rate of 1411 kbps very clearly, but when I play a WAV file that is a voice at 256 kbps, from a text to speech program, it is soft and muffled. I have a couple other sound affects at 352 kbps that just aren't audible.

I thought that maybe if I varied the values of the RC circuit going to my speakers, that it may work, but so far have only varied the resistor values, and it doesnt seem like the right move. I think I may have to change the bit rate that the WAV player works at for these files.

Here is how my computer speakers are attached to the propeller.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Dan

are these 16-bit PCM stereo wav files?
Which player code are you using?

I am using the SD3.01_FATEngine object, not sure if they are 16-bit stereo wav files or not.
