Hello,
I wanted to see if someone has had any luck finding a socket to fit the propeller qfn chip?

Thanks,

David Guadagno

I don't think such a socket exists -- except perhaps for a very pricey test socket.

Guess I will be soldering the chip then.

    Thanks,

They are quite easy to solder if you put a large via in the central pad and feed solder in with the soldering iron tip. That only applies to prototypes, of course, use solder paste for production.

Yes, they are readily available but very expensive. Emulation Technology has a pretty wide selection of adapters/sockets for QFN components. You could even make it a through-hole part!

Anybody done a supply-your-own-3V QFN breakout board, just I/O and prop_plug pins, xtal, decoups, and w/ mounting holes for stand-offs (mem could be on_bd or off)?

No mounting holes (unless you count the single hole on the one end), but I am trying to find time to wrap up my M44D40+ module that might fit your criteria? Some details are on this thread here and details on the concept backpack are here. Due to "life" my project time is very limited right now for big projects, but I have a few made for a couple people on the forums for initial testing/feedback.

    Mayhap.
Like a stripped down Schmartboard with two #4-sized holes. Maybe I should post about this in "Suggestions...", a QFN breakout board for people who know what they're doing.
