usb serial CH340 usb to serial cable

I have a Usb to serial cable with the usb serial ch340 drivers installed. I can not get my basic stamp 2 to connect to the pc. Can anyone help me out?

    Is this a USB to serial (logic level) cable or a USB to RS232 serial cable? The Stamp expects a USB to RS232 adapter. The Stamps have been tested with USB to RS232 serial cables from FTDI and those work for sure. Anything else may or may not work. I've had success with Keyspan's High Speed Serial Adapter as well as several FTDI-based adapters.
