    Hi,

    Why does not the site accept PayPal?

    I assume the $22.09 per person is to help defer the cost of food and goodie bag... with I am guessing $2.09 going to eventbrite :)

    I noticed you picked the perfect date for ChicagoLand Expo, I happen to be in Chicago for conferences the week before and the week after. Family is flying in for the weekend too. (Not sure my wife will be excited about this news though:)

    I know it's still a ways away, but will we be getting a FAQ post/thread with information about the recommended hotel, airports, etc. It's in the posts from before but it would be nice if it can be associated with this thread too.

    I've made it to the UPENEs and UPEC before so I think I'll try to add UPEW to the list this year.

    @Bill,

    Yes, the entry fee will solve some of the issues we had last year with registration.
    I'll see if I can find a way to add Paypal.

    @schill

    Yes, Hotel information is forthcoming. I'll post it soon.

    I have the confirmed rates from Staybridge (The recommended hotel) They have been posted to the top thread.

    They have also provided the downstairs meeting room for a late-night meet & greet the night before.

    Hey OBC,
    What happened to the Florida Expo we talked about at UPENE last year? Temps have been in the 70s over the last week, while the rest of the country is snow bound. How about a Florida Expo to melt the frost off of your Prop Development Board?

    I really need everyone to register through the website as much as possible.

    Gang, it really isn't about the money. We have great sponsors, and a good budget has been established for all of the needs. That being said, we (and other sponsors) have always used registration to determine food and giveaway needs well ahead of time. Last year we had a lot of folk who so desperately wanted to attend they signed up, hoping that a miracle would happen. (I can completely understand.) We used those numbers to determine orders ahead of time. Fortunately I was able to minimize damage to some degree by donating the extra food and relocating resources. (It's tricky to find a good way to do this at 11:00pm in a town you don't know.) I will never call a local establishment to largely reduce an order when I know they planned ahead and brought on extra staff or materials to cover us. It would simply leave a bad taste in the community and I want to always be a great guest.

    The $20 insures that folks have crossed the line of wishful thinking to reality. It will stabilize our headcount allowing us to purchase correctly and utilize funds the best way possible.

    If there is some reason you can't sign up through the system, contact me privately and we'll make arrangements. I promise I won't turn anyone away.

    Thank you for understanding.

    @Ron,

    Our sponsors and I are ALWAYS open to new locations, but the numbers seem to indicate that NY/Boston areas would be the next place to put an expo. Shame, because I really would love to defrost my Propellers a bit! Trust me, I'll be keeping an eye on the Florida/Texas areas. :)

    @OBC,

    I signed up for two tickets and both are printed in my name. Is there a way to get my son's name on one of them, or does it matter?

    Just wondering!

    I'm working on this problem today...

    For now.. Please register each ticket as a separate transaction. Those of you who have fallen into this problem, please email me and let me know. I will adjust the tags to include the correct second tag at printing.

    I would love to attend. I do not know if I will be able to make it. Is there any sin in showing up, if I do make it I would be staying with some good friends in Ukiah (can not afford Hotel/Motel). this is dependent completely on my ability to arrange transportation at that time, witch would be last minute. I would probably know 4 or 5 hours before being (or not) there. So I ask would it be possible to get in at the gate, with no ticket?

    I'm registered and got my rooms reserved at the Staybridge. My wife is a big time frequent flier and she assures me that the best time to reserve flights has not arrived yet. She will probably come with and book some side trips fore and aft of UPEW itself. She might not show up at UPEW herself though, since she is a pretty serious birder and she'll probably take the opportunity to take the rental car to some places I'd rather not visit to spot birds.

    I finally booked UPEW, and the Staybridge :)

    OBC, I'll need at least one table - if there is room two might be better, as I am bringing >30 different products this year!

    For my talk, I am going back to the style I used in '09, I was not happy with my fast-try-to-cover-every-product thing last year.

    I'll mostly be talking about a couple of new super-secret software and drivers :)

    p.s.

    OBC, I am bringing you a complimentary FlexMem, the FAST driver should be ready by then.

    @Bill,

    Saw your registration come in... Yes, table space is yours... certainly for a Flexmem.. :)

    uh oh.. better retract that or folks will think I'm taking bribes for table space. :)

    Why would Parallax schedule this for the same weekend as the Maker Faire? I enjoy both, but going to both simply isn't practical. Parallax should be AT Maker Faire, not competing with it.

    The guy who started and schedules "Unofficial Propeller Expo" is not a Parallax employee and is oblivious to California events. Apparently I'm oblivious to some too :)

    We saw this issue early in early stages, however made the decision to press forward. We felt that the events were unique enough to not provide too much disruption. I can't speak for everyone, however I'm more interested in the Propeller than I am in various crafts. We'll be watching results and feedback from this year and may adjust in following years. Naturally, it is not our intention to disrupt another event.

    For many coming from out of state, this provides the opportunity to attend both venues.

    Well I broke down and decided to attend (been wanting to for awhile.)
    Now that I'm close, 1-1/2 hour ride on the motorcycle, it's possible.

    I don't have much to bring, but I'll be there!

    I'm on the list for UPEW- I'll attend on Saturday and bring all my toys: TBot, 12Blocks, ViewPort, PropScope.
    This sunday I'll be in Sydney for the "very unofficial propeller expo sydney" and the following sunday I'll be at Maker's Faire.

    Looking forward to seeing you guys there - it'll be great!

    I can only stay for Saturday, so I'm driving up super early in the morning (after hitting the monthly electronics swap meet at De Anza College in Sunnyvale, which is in the complete opposite direction) and driving back to San Francisco mid-afternoon/evening.
