SumoBot Wireless Control

I just recently started getting into micro-controllers and circuitry, and this Christmas I received the Parallax SumoBot Robot Competition Kit. I've been interested in making my own remote-controlled robot for a while now, and I was wondering which of the wireless accessories y'all would recommend for communicating between two SumoBot Basic Stamp 2 circuit boards at around 100-500 feet (such as the 433 MHz RF Transceiver, XBee 1mW Wire Antenna, or just infrared) ? I'm thinking of using the 2-Axis Joysticks on one circuit board the control the other sumo bot, and again I'm new to all this. Thanks!

I would go with XBee, it just works. I would get 2 XBees and 3 adapter boards. One for each SumoBot and one with USB to hook up to a PC to use the XBee configuation program.
