Viewport -- It is even more powerful when you use it correctly!

Hi everyone,

I have been an outspoken proponent of viewport since I first tried it, and I continue to promote its use!

I have been working on motion control software (4 axes CNC control) for a relatively long time now. I have been using Viewport for about a year (I think, time is flying by the older I get). Anyway, I have always done my programming / editing with Propeller Tool, download it into the prop, then switch to Viewport, click Connect and start my debugging. Once you get used to the click pattern it worked fast and efficient.

Well, I bought myself a new laptop with a bigger screen (17.3") because my eyes just ain't so young anymore. The screen is GREAT, the keboard sucks. The F keys require you to press the fn button to get the function key to act normal, otherwise they do other things like brightness, volum etc. Well, after a year of pressing keys in a certain sequence and that changes, life is not so good.

Looking for a way to streamline the "hacking" process, I learned just the other day that Viewport has an editor and that it downloads the program into the prop and automatically switches to the DSO screen - all with one-click!!!!!

I know, all you other users are laughing at me because you all knew that, but I never thought of viewport in that perspective, I thought it was only designed to show me live variables - which it does very good!

So, while my keyboard still sucks on the new laptop, it forced me to learn more about one of my favorite tools which is a good thing.

Chris

All kinds of new features in Veiwport...just can't find the thread right now..hrmm. sorry bout that..

Anyway's, just to save You another year of key press depression, You can allways plug the USB
keyboard and mouse of Your choice into the laptop, I went with a Microsoft Natural keyboard, and a gigantic rollerball.

I'm gonna see if I can stumble into that recent thread about Veiwport.
