And so....
Here I am in the Shangri-la Hotel in Tainan waiting for a couple of gals that I've never met to join up with me for a Christmas dinner. They happen to friends of a friend that are visit Taiwan had nothing to do. Since we are 12 hours ahead of New York, Christmas comes early in these parts.

Not much going on and I am pretty sure most of you have something better to do than to surf the Forum for Xmas. But nonetheless, best wishes to all.

Merry Christmas to you and to your new dinner mates!

Just off to the shop to finish off a couple of Christmas gifts. Its a nice mild and green Christmas here, no snow and -3 C.

    Cheers,

Thanks all ==> I am back home in Kaohsiung from Tainan (not a typo). Tainan was the first capital of Taiwan during the Ming dynasty and later controlled by the Dutch. The reason to visit is that it has more history and old Chinese buildings than just about any other place in Taiwan. Neither the Chinese nor the Dutch (or even the Japanese) seemed to ever achieve control of the whole island as native tribles always controlled the mountain regions and access to the east coast. But the outpost in Tainan are the primary claim by China to Taiwan. It is worth visiting to sort out the history.
