(Saw Forbidden Planet for first time last week. Curious movie. Kept waiting for the part where Robby rescues the damsel in distress. Never happened. Bummer. Also: Somewhere between Forbidden Planet and Inception, movies changed a bit. In fact I think the whole freaking universe changed.)

The story for Forbidden Planet was taken from Shakespeare's The Tempest. Robbie the robot is Caliban and the Walter Pigeon character is Prospero. The spirit Ariel is the mysterious force that causes the crew of the spaceship so many problems.
