I have a problem with my mini Atom Bot board V2 and my basic stamp plugged in

but I don't know what battery I should buy to make it work.

According to the data sheet here: http://www.active-robots.com/products/controllr/bot-board/bb2pdf.pdf

VL can operate from a 9V battery while VS (or VL and VS together) can operate from 4.8 to 7.2 volts. Connecting a 6V battery to VL (with the correct jumper setting) should get you started.

From the look of the board in the diagram, it appears to have a screw terminal block. You should be able to find a 4-cell AA battery pack at any electronics supply store. Parallax also sells them for about $3.00

Have you tried asking on the Lynxmotion forum: http://www.lynxmotion.net ? Lynxmotion also sells batteries and cables (battery plug to bare wire) that you can use with the terminals.
