New forums software: Lost information problem worse, not better...

The new forum is great, but unfortunately it appears it hasn't solved a basic problem. Information is still getting churned under. Yes, there is a much improved search feature, but with the addition of blogs and SIGS the problem appears to be worse, not better. The release of two Propeller books helped a little, but there is certainly much work to be done on that front too...
There are numerous websites which are contributing rays of light here and there, but we need an easy repository of information. Of course the first thought is a "Wiki", others would say that we already have a Propeller Wiki, and we do.
I'm thinking more along the lines of a virtual book. Something which can be easily contributed to, with an established format which could be exported to PDF, or printed material from Cafe Press at whim. Has anyone seen an online "book" application to which multiple collaborators could add information? Maybe this could be solved by getting volunteers to write a block information to be published by a central source. I don't have a good answer here, but I can see our problem hasn't gone way by throwing new software at it.
Thoughts?
