Board Layout Software

Hello World,
I am working on a board layout for a product I plan on offering to initially model rocketry customers. but it's uses extend beyond that to manufacturing automation and well the limits are endless. to many it is just another propeller prototype board the the software makes everything. doesn't it. ok enough of that. to my problem. I have been in electronics for over 13+ years starting first in the air force but ultimately I am a programmer. My experience with laying out boards never extended beyond single layer boards. so When I go to layout a board like I am working on now it is well sorta new to me. I have narrowed down my manufacture choice to 2 companies in the US and one in China. I am leaning towards the China and they accept both gerber or eagle files. I have been using the free version of eagle and so far I really like it. but the problem is this I am limited to 2 layers. The board size limitation is not so much an issue as I need to keep the board very small to fit in a rocket. Finding part configuration seems not to be an issue. but what concerns me is the number of Vias that are needed for my board. I only have 136 connections yet I am at over 300 Vias. Are there other options for board layout that are free or extremely cheap with an auto router. That I can get common components pad configurations for easily particularly the parts sold in parallax's store. Also any recommendations on a board house that can also do assembly would be helpful.

Thanks,
Terry Massey

Autorouters on cheap packages like Eagle aren't very good. You need to route the board manually to minimise the number of vias.
