    Rich, you beat me to it! I have seen these and they sorta kinda work; low-res (310x240) and low brightness (dark room/white wall required) but for $25, it could be lotsa fun for the right app!

    I purchased two last time they were on Woot. (One to hack and one to keep.)

    I kind of like them. They aren't very bright but they work fine up close. I think they are a solution to a problem I haven't found yet.

    Maybe 3D HUD?
