$9 Parallax RFID reader

My local Radio Shack in Queens, NY has Parallax RFID readers on sale for less than $9. Not sure if other locations have the same deal, but keep an eye out.

    They started that back in April. We had a heads up thanks tho Radio Shack Jim:

    It's amazing there are units left! Check the Light to Freq sensor. They were on sale too!

    I concur! I bought several from scads of RS stores, including the one near me. And I also bought one on an interesting sale price via a store in Forest Hills. If anyone hasn't visited the site I manage, it, ah, confirms I am indeed in Queens NY also. If anyone is interested in finding out there, please ask privately. I also bought a bundle of the light sensors also. Strangely enough, the response of these later ones made by TAOS, do not come close to the originals made by the same division of TI.

    And as it happens, back in August, when I bought several items directly from Parallax I mentioned it to the sales person,

    Glad to find this thread. Just checked, and there are still a lot of stores in the metro DC/Maryland area that have the rfid readers in stock.

    You CAN go to
    http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2906723
    and click on the "Find it in store" button, then enter your zip code, or a zip code near you, and find a store with the unit in stock.

    Out of 4 phone calls I made, I located 3 stores with a total of 8 units in stock.

    Headed to store now to pick up 4 of them for use at my church, as computer log on devices.
    (don't have software yet to do that, but SOMEONE out there must have done this.)

    Does anyone have experience doing this?

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I can't find one close! I've called every single RS in my area I think. Phooey.



    Edit: ok, I found the only two in 100 miles I think. The nice lady is holding them for me for tonight!!

    I think the original price at RS was $$49.90 - I bought all that I could find at the clearance price.! Love a great deal like that.
