Okay, so i know parallax doesn't offer customer support on this because there are so many things that could not be set right. but i was wondering if any one else has experienced the same problem as me.
When i plug the module into my network with power, all lights on the netburner turn on and stay on including the 2 where the patch cable plugs in.(no blinking) i know its not a crossover cable, so that shouldn't be the problem. my router doesn't even flash on the front for the number that its plugged into. so that shows the routers not even seeing it...?
has anyone else had this problem?
oh yeah, im using a d link router and running windows 7 home premium with trend micro internet security

I've never had a Netburner. I did try other Netmedia products and found that support was minimal and documentation poor for the BasicX products.
The reason I suggested Linux is that the Windows fireall and 2nd party security software are a bit harder to sort through. With LInux, documentation is readily available online and in public libraries. I first learned how to handle TCP/IP protocols in Linux as the fundamentals are better explained and the diagnostic software is easy to use.
You will have to work with Windows at the Command Line for diagnostics of your internet connection. And I am not sure what exactly is available with Windows 7.
I did take a look at the Netburner documentation and see that a crossover cable is required when direct to the computer. I also see that the Netburner depends on software installed in Windows, so Linux may not be a good option.
Now that you have it working, it may be possible to reinsert the router. As usual, trying to minimize the configuration when first getting to know a piece of hardware.
