Looking for Cheap Demo Boards

I'm tutoring two students at my university how to use the propeller chip over the summer and I've just run into an equipment problem where I need to purchase two demo boards.

The problem of course is that both students may not be able to purchase the demo boards themselves before the start of the class. Meaning I have to front the cost of both demo boards which will run me about $200 dollars. And while both are *good* to pay me back... nothing ruins friendship like money.

So, is anyone feeling the holiday spirt and would like to donate two demo boards to my little program or ... is anyone selling two demo boards for $100 dollars?

Help is greatly appreciated as I can't pay $200 right now.

Thanks,

Why not get a couple of proto boards instead!!! Have them learn a little soldering by attaching a few headers as well.

I have a spare prop proto board with headers already mounted & can donate that but you'll pay for the freight charges, though...

Mmm, I can't really do stuff with soldering. It needs to be already built. Thanks though.

I was going to suggest a couple of my DIY Propeller PCBs, they can be made very cheaply. But if you aren't into soldering, making PCBs is obviously out of the question. You really ought to get to grips with it, you are missing out on a lot.

Do they have to be demo boards? I'll donate two ASCs.

You could make one yourself. I have made several "demo" boards on a little bit of prefboard and it would be a lot cheaper(But not as aesthetically pleasing as a professional pcb) ..

I have a demo board that has at least one i/o pin that's flaky (seems to read ok, but output is very jittery).

If you want it, you got it.

@Leon - I'm a master solder. Its just that I don't have time to do so. The thing starts next week too... Its either buy or die! Lol

@DaveJenson - Good find! But I need to buy it now...

I agree, or it only takes an evening to add some sockets and a TV jack to build up a "Demo Board" from a Proto Board. Know your pins from the schematics. The Demo Board is a fantastic board to develop on, but if you're in a cash strapped pinch, a Proto Board can bail you out. I have one with sockets for pins, tv, vga, mouse and keyboard, plus it already has the eeprom, crystal, power switch, dual power regulation, reset and power plug (with some extras).

    I fancy one of these - $50!

    http://www.parallax.com/Store/Microcontrollers/PropellerDevelopmentBoards/tabid/514/CategoryID/73/List/0/SortField/0/Level/a/ProductID/711/Default.aspx

that and a large breadboard - $10? would give you the ability to play. Could even go for some breadboard phono, ps2, etc, modules for not much extra.
