Parallels 6, Windows XP and the Prop Plug

Just thought I'd see if anyone has this combination working? I upgraded my Mac from Parallels Desktop 5 to Parallels Desktop 6. As soon as I did, I started getting the "Propeller Lost on COM3" message. I got the same message on 3 different Prop boards (two Prop Proto boards and one of my own design). All 3 loaded fine before, and load fine off my XP laptop from work now. None load with Parallels.

I tried a variety of debugging steps: Upgraded to the latest Propeller tool, reinstalled the VCP drivers for the FTDI chip, resoldering the Prop Plug connector, and, finally, the steps in comment #13 on this thread: http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?t=100360
I also checked to see if Windows Update was downloading stuff (it wasn't) and made sure all other programs on my Mac and on Windows were shut down (obviously except system daemons).

So, before I dig into this yet deeper, I was wondering if I'm the only one having the problem and/or has someone successfully gotten this to work.

Thanks!

Hve you tried BST (Brad Spin Tool) ?

Yeah, BST was my first choice to fix this. Unfortunately, it doesn't detect a prop on either of my Mac's. I think I installed the FTDI driver correctly, but I haven't really dug into the problem much (it's obviously something I'm doing wrong, since it works fine for plenty of people).

What happens when you plug the propplug ? does you Mac detect a new "network adpater" ? (Mine does, 10.6.5)

Yeah. I see the port and I can use screen to talk to a Prop on the other end of it. BST just doesn't detect the prop. I assumed it was related to the warning about installing the FTDI VCP drivers, but that didn't seem to help (even after a reboot, just to be doubly sure). Now that I'm sure my Prop Plug is really still working, I need to go back a bit more carefully to figure out what's going on. I also need to try killing the Parallels USB Mux that runs regardless of whether Parallels is running.

I heared at macrumors (not very reliable source other than blind fanboism..., grain of salt needed) that Parallels struggle with USB support. I cannot comment myself because I have only used VMWave 1 and 2 and VBox. Since BST showed up in 2008 I haven't used PropellerTool anymore nor have I looked back :), nor had I problems with USB (even using 2 FTDI based devices like a PropPlug and the Intronix LA, the second in winxp)
Maybe you can disable automatic attachment of USB devices to any vm in Parallels...

    Try uninstalling all FTDI drivers...
