How do forum members turn signatures into links?

I checked the permissions for signatures which seem to say you can't do it but I also see members who have links to websites and I wondered how it was done.

    The forum software uses what's know as BBcode, it's similar to HTML codes, but there are differences and limitations.

    here's a wiki on how to use BBcode. A signature can contain plain text, BBcode or a combination of both.
