No Serial Port?

None of my PCs have serial ports. Can I use a serial-to-USB adapter with the BASIC Stamp Activity Kit?

    Yes, although not all USB to serial adapters will work. Most adapters that use the FTDI chips will work. Parallax has a cheap adapter that works (this).

    There's no list of adapters that work, but there was a thread here where people were asked to indicate what adapters worked for them and which ones didn't. I don't have a link to it though.

    Use the Parallax converter - it's pretty bullet-proof, and seems to work with everything.

    Be sure to install the FTDI drivers before connecting things physically to your computer. The Parallax directions here are correct.

    Thanks for the replies. I have several serial-to-USB cables that use the FTDI chip set, so I'll give them a try first. As soon as I buy the kit, that is.
