Problem getting started

My son has just purchased the "What's a Microcontroller?" set. We've installed the software, and are on Page 8 & 9 of the manual, i.e. "Finding the Software on the Parallax CD".
Page 9 says:
"Click the Software link shown in Figure 1-14". Fine, we did that.
"Click the + next to the BASIC Stamps folder shown in Figure 1-15". Fine, we did that.
"Click the + next to the Windows folder". I think we did that, but there is no folder called "Windows", only once called "BASIC Stamp Editor (Windows), so we clicked that since that was the closest match.
"Click the floppy diskette icon labeled "Stamp 2/2e/2sx/2p/2pe (stampw.exe)"". There is no floppy diskette icon labeled in that way.
Can anyone help?

I have the same setup but I can't find my parallax cds now.

This were you can download the parallax cd as an ISO if your cd is too scratched up to be readable.

you will find the current version of the software that you need to use your Stamp board. All of the Parallax software that you need for any of this stuff is available as a free download from their website. Here's a general page that takes you to, well, everything:

Your best bet is to download the latest software and install from that, and if you have other problems, come back here and ask again. We'll get you going - count on it.
Once you understand it, it becomes quite clear and routine. But many new learners have a high fear factor of what can go wrong. (If anything does go wrong, just remove the software and reinstall.)
