I'm curious, (because their customer area is large).

Is anyone fighting with the configuration of Port forwarding with the Zytel 660 wireless unit from Century Link? There is some real weirdness with mine.

    OBC,
Usually port forwarding is pretty straight forward.

Are you sure they are not blocking port 80 ?
Alot of providers do that because they don't want you to run a web server.

I'm using an outside web proxy from Texas to test.

    Here's the really weird part...

Spinneret server works fine on local workstations: 192.168.2.X

I've loaded a little web server on my PC to see if the port is open.
When the server on the PC is up, the web proxy can see the page. (on the PC)

It doesn't matter which IP address is specified in the Port Forwarding
section of the router. If the PC web server software is running, it goes
to the PC. Never to the Spinneret.

    I've disabled the firewall, etc.
Something here is NOT playing by the rules. :)

The PC software might be using UPnP to create a forward on your router, and that might override the manual port forwards you are doing.

Also, I know it's a basic thing and you probably got it right, but I figured I would mention it just in case. For Web stuff you need to port forward TCP or both TCP and UDP, not just UDP. I say this because most of the time when I've had to make manual port forwards it was for UDP.

    '
I've changed the FireWall settings; Nothing
    I've changed the PORT#; Nothing
    '
I have the IP address of the Spinneret in the write LAN work group.10.0.0.19, My router is 10.0.0.1,My PC is 10.0.0.3
    '
The MAC address I used for the Spinneret is $ c0.3f.0e.75.2c.ef
    '
I can "ping" and "arp -a" the Spinneret and get valid results from both commands.
    '

I'm curious. What happens if you load a simple web server on your PC?

Mine seems to re-direct to the PC no matter what IP address is in my port forwarding section. I've even tried fooling it by exchanging the IP of the workstation and the Spinneret.

I've also disabled UpnP, good idea, but didn't change anything here.

Hey, at least I know port 80 isn't blocked. :)

Casslan and I spent the afternoon troubleshooting mine.. It's total garbage.

Hook the Spinneret to some *ahem* free wireless that was floating nearby and things started working perfectly.

If someone manages to get the Zytel wireless 660 working, I'd sure like to know about it. In the meantime, I'm dropping it into a back later and hooking up an older Cisco router for now.
