End of Life on Say It Module

I really like using these things in my projects, but was dissappointed to see an End of Life label attached to their page. Does anyone know if there's going to be some kind of replacement for this accessory in the near future? I'm interested in continuing to use these since I still have so many projects that voice commands would be a nice touch on.

thanks,

Waruma

You are not Alone in this, I was disappointed too, when I saw the End of Life on Say It Module!

This is probably an "End of Life" from Parallax's perspective, but not from the manufacturer. If this is the case, it only means that we won't be selling them in the future because the inventory turns & gross profit are too low. This doesn't mean it's not a quality product - I've seen the demonstration and thought it was pretty accurate.

I'll call Lauren over to the forums for some clarification. Might be Monday before she has a chance to reply to this thread.

Wow this is a big surprise, particularly for such a great product.

Good speech recognition can be tough enough to come by -- good and affordable at the same time is harder yet to find. I hope this means that a replacement module is lined up to be announced soon. Do I smell a Propeller based product on the way??!

P.S. Thanks for the feedback Ken, your post came through while I was writing this one.

    This is correct.
It's not an End-of-Life, as in there is a terrible problem with them; the Say It Module works fantastically! Also End-of-Life doesn't necessarily mean a product is bad or broken, or causing problems.

Consider it an Overstock item rather than an EoL, because it's not defunct.

So it's something your going to continue to carry? I hope so, I've got plans for em which I wanna work on later.

Hello Bump and the rest of the folks over at Parallax!

Ok, can you be a but more specific on the EOL for products? I think the 'Bargin Basement" is a cool idea but can't you offer a few bargains (not just the stuff piling up in BUMP's desk) that isn't EOL? As soon as you put EOL on any item it can scare people in that it is a Terminally ill item that is gone as soon as it's gone. I'd only use EOL when it is truly EOL.

If it is toward the end but not REALLY the end (as in like you'll order or make more) why not use something like Twilight? or other less scary wording??? EOL screams use this only if you've already been using it but not for new projects...

    Hello Everyone,

The Say It Module is not an End of Life item, it's just on sale right now and is considered overstocked because of the amount of inventory we're holding. It is a great product and a good seller. We plan to keep it around for a long time. Marketing will talk tomorrow about End of Life wording. Thank you for the feedback.

I've had my eye on the Say It module for months. I was also looking at the VRBot module which is similar, but has cables instead of a SIP interface. Well the drop in price motivated me to buy a Say It today. I'm not a big fan of cables, so I finally have a use for my app mod socket.

I'm glad because usually stuff goes on sale after I buy it!
