Weird forum behavior & loading delays

I've noticed more than once (on both Windows and OS/X) that loading forum pages is being delayed while a message at the bottom of my browser screen reads, "Connecting to remote host mystatus.skype.com...". I don't use Skype and don't have it installed. Also, I've only seen it happen with forum pages. Is there any chance that something strange has crept into the server software?

Addendum: Hmm. I see where it's coming from. User Ray0665 has a Skype logo/link in his profile display. This contains the code:
<a href="#" onclick="imwindow('skype', '49396', 400, 285); return false;">
<img src="[color=red]http://mystatus.skype.com/smallicon/ray0665[/color]"
alt="Send a message via Skype&trade; to Ray0665" border="0" /></a>

Any page that Ray0665 has a post on needs to connect to Skype to download an image. I wonder if we really need to allow external references like this for such images if they're going to slow down page loading.

This may be the same issue that potatohead was referring to, BTW.

    Nothing added that I know of. We're investigating it now...

    Turns out those were the droids we were looking for...
    But now with that non sequitur out of the way; we found the problem bit, told it to move along, and now it's living in a comfortable double-wide near the bay.

    Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

    Hey, thanks, Bump! (I would've banished it to a a single-wide in Dinuba, though. :) )
