I came across this at a vendor, and a similar item in a different case at another vendor, each had the same firmware, I cant wait to see whats inside, I'm pretty sure its propeller driven.

This model was different because it had a multi-meter attached.

I would not bet on it!
Just because it does video? Not argument enough to exclude a lot of other processors.

I would appreciate anyones input on how to figure out if it is or isn't.

They have scratched the info off the chip.

The amount that is scratched off is not enough to remove all the markings from the Propeller chips that I have.

The video certainly looks "Propellery" ... the crystal is on the wrong side of the chip though.

The eeprom is also connected differently.

One other thing I see odd is the way they grounded the case of the crystal.

    Hi CassLan.

If You look from PIN1 marking this IC not use same pins for XTal, and XTal to Propeller not need capacitors.
That already give that it is NOT Propeller

I think you guys are probably right.

I'm sure all this thing does, could be done with a propeller.

This tool was almost exactly what I wanted to do for one of the prop design contests.

The Dremeling of the chip details is quite common, it gets them lucrative returned service work. It was a "You're kidding" and put it back together moment, for us in the service department.

I'm betting it's an atmega1284. The xtal is connected to pins 7 & 8. Pins 6 & 5 look like they're connected to Vcc & Gnd, too. Here's the atmega datasheet.
