rc speed controller

BACKSTORY:
So I've been modifying a pumpkin lately, and as you can guess my deadline is coming up fast. The plan was to have a few servo motors glued onto hacked up cd drives push out the sides of the pumpkin to open it up, I just got that part working, but it is way too slow, it's embarrassing actually. Then I got to thinking that what I really need to do is up the power a bit, and I've got these electric rc car motors left over from when I used to race rc cars, and that will be just the right kind of overkill.

QUESTION:
I have two "programmable" speed controllers to go along with them, they have the same type of plug as a servo does, where they would both plug into the receiver, but do they use the same type of signal? So could I control them with one of the servo programs in the object exchange?

Yes, they respond to the same signals as regular servos. Some speed controllers require the "throttle" to be in the off condition at startup in order to prevent unintended operation. Some may even require a certain pattern of movement such as off, full throttle and back to off before they will allow the motor to operate.
