TRS-80 Color Computer II Monitor?

I got a TRS-80 Color Computer II from a flea market today, and tried to get it to display stuff on my mini tv, but nothing showed up... Is there a specific monitor I need to use, or some cable that I need to get it to work? All I've tried so far is a standard RCA A/V cable, and had no luck...

Thanks.

    hi vaati
i had a CoCo decades ago. if i remember correctly the monitor output is actually VHF; either channel 3 or 4.
i hope you can get it running. a cool little machine with a weird keyboard.
and it had some decent graphics capability for it's day.

    blake

p.s. i just remembered, there was an adapter to the 75ohm antenna input on the tv. you might be able to jury rig something to a coax jack to get video. (read VHF)

Got it!! I used my SNES cable, which converts from the RCA connector to the antenna input. :D

Now I just need to learn color basic...

There was a simple hack[1] to add composite out to the original Color Computer. I don't remember the details but I know I did it to my brother's computer. It was the first circuit board I hand drew and etched (not really needed because it was very simple).

I think it may just have been an op amp connected to the appropriate signal - an input to the RF modulator probably.

[1] Did we call these things hacks back then?
