Cannot play file from SD-card!

Hello there,

I've tried using the "Generalized WAV player" from the OBEX and I couldn't get any sound out from the speaker, despite the connections of the SD card are all made.

I used a 20K ohms pullups resistors, starting from P0, with pin 8 and 9 not connected to pullups. Also, I'm connecting the output to an LM386 with minimal components (gain = 20).

Upon inspection in the Serial Terminal, I found that the chip is not accessing the SD card at all! It hanged in there and didn't do anything.

Any ideas on how to get the SD-card working? I've tried two, and it gives me the same thing.

I'm using my SD-Card without any pull-up's - you could try that. But first, try another SD-Demo (fsrw)

Download the SD2.0 FATEngine. Its in the OBEX under full file system driver. The object has a buit in wav player in its demo.

I see. Well, is there a stripped version of that program, because I just have to test the functionality of the SD-card and the output. :)

Just... comment out stuff you don't need. The demo is organized very well.

The thing is, the program is in the form of a terminal program, and I can't get any thing on the screen at all. Must I use Hyperterminal, or the Parallax Serial Terminal? I can't get all of these to work at all.

You really need to get some kind of terminal program working. The downloading serial port is a vital debugging resource. How about trying BST? Not only is it a Propeller Tool compatible Spin compiler / assembler, but it includes an integrated serial terminal and runs on Windows / Linux / and the MacOS.

    Hello there,

I tried the BST as well just now. I couldn't get anything out of the screen and from the processor as well. I've even double-checked all the connections - they seem to be correct.

Right now I have to get some sound out from there, but I tried it without success for a whole day.

Can you get sound from the sound demos that ship with the propeller software?

Yes sir, I get some sound from the included Ken Gracey's/Beau Schwabe's Frequency Generator program.

I believe it is my own SD Card's fault, or the program refuses to cooperate. I had to try that one more time. :)
