PIR Motion Sensor #555-28027
Has anyone measured the current draw on this module?
I bought 2 from Digi-Key and they are pulling 10mA each @5v not 100uA like the spec sheet says..
They both seem to work fine but I am using them on a battery power supply and 10mA is a lot more than 100uA.
I see that it has an onboard voltage regulator but I couldnt find any data on it. I think maybe the passive current draw on that might be causing the problem.
Thanks

If you're using this with a Stamp or other 5V microcontroller, you could power it intermittently from an I/O pin to reduce average power ... depending on what you intend to use it for.
The X-Band motion detector draws about the same (8mA)
Thanks for the reply and information.
Your link to the data sheet is different than the one I found. I must have found an old sheet because it shows <100uA current draw.
Here is the PDF I was looking at.

3mA is a lot closer to 10 than 100uA.
Thanks again.
