New game ideas

I have been trying to find new games for development with my Hydra.
Here are a few that come to mind.
1. Zombie Banks
This would be somewhat like SIM City, but the context would be robotic zombie banks that try to steal all your funds as you try to make money and find a safe haven to store value. Of course the winner would be the last man standing. And added twist could be 'breaking the zombie bank'. Player might also sue or work together to have a particular zombie bank taken over or rescued by 'The Central Bank', 'The IMF', or some other higher power.
2. Two Man Volleyball.
This would be a graphic bare bones bounce game somewhat similar to Pong, but there would be gravity and instead of looking down on a table-tennis layout, one would look sideways at two player with a net in between. Instead of making whole players, circles would represent them and would strike the ball. Of course the circles would be limited to a height lower than the net and where on the circle the hit takes place would determine the direction and force of ball.
Another option would to have the ball bounce off a ceiling and backwalls, just to make it more creative.

But both sound like they would be fun to play on the Hydra! I would start off with the volleyball game first since it would be a little easier to put together.
Interestingly enough, I've been thinking along the same lines, Loopy..
I've found it very restrictive to re-create existing games because you are
always worried about gameplay, design, etc matching the existing model.
So I too am looking at some new ideas for my next game...
You know, back in the day, game designers would do game designs
based on movies.. Crane's Ghostbusters (Activision title) was my
personal favorite! For the most part there was really two game modes
in the game, a driving mode where you would grab ghosts, and
the capture mode. It did a great job of playing with the theme
and I have spent countless hours with it. The opening screen
with the bouncing ball was the best.
With that in mind there are several movie themes that would be
a blast to do prop games for... I'm skipping those that have
known games already created..
Zombieland (shoot the zombies, find the twinkie... heh.
Matrix
Inception (can you imagine the map tilting?)
2001
I could go on and there are tons of great source materials, midi, graphics and otherwise that would boost the game.
OBC
Trying to mimic to the N'th detail another game is fun to some and frustrating to others. You could take a "classic" game like Breakout or Space Invaders can change elements to make it your own.
I find that I work best when I come up with a design (and plan it out) before starting the project. For some people, however, it works better to build their games by "playing around" with a few key elements. It is whatever works best for you.
