Go Advanced, Go Advanced.. & Edit Box

Whenever I edit any post, it comes up with few features and a tiny edit box, totally unusable.

Every time, I must click the go advanced features box and wait for a new edit page to appear, to get a slightly larger edit box and the ability to set the font and text.

I think the so called "go advanced" page should be standard. Please make it standard.

While your at it, please make the edit box larger. It's so small, you can't really see or get a good idea of how the page looks, and, impossible to see the lower or upper page halves when editing numbers and text.

As you can see, some other dudes are having trouble with the editor.

I don't have any problems. It even works very well with my little Dell Streak Android tablet.

LOL! Leon, your problem is worse than mine. Every time you post it comes up three times.

Besides, if you're not editing any full project pages, you would not see any problems. I can't remember ever seeing a full project page with photos posted by you on the Project Forum.

That was this forum's software, it hung up on me for several minutes and created those three posts! It now won't let me delete the extra ones.

For long posts, its always best to make liberal use of the Preview button. No edit box, regardless of how big, is going to give you the same advantages of a full page preview showing all the inline images and none of the BBcode. I've also found that it's easier to spot typos in a preview than in the edit box. When I find one, I can either scroll to it in the edit box or use the browser's Edit->Find function to zoom right to it.

The quick post editor is the default - and only editor that is available immediately after the Edit Post button is clicked. The 'Go Advanced' button appears at the bottom of the Quick Edit window, should you need advanced editing features.

The edit box can be resized on most browsers. There is a window handle, indicated by two diagonal lines, located at the lower right hand side of the edit window. Point the mouse cursor at the handle, left-click and drag the handle to resize the window.

    re: Edit Box Size
Jim, that's exactly what I needed! There's two double pointers at the top right hand side of the edit screen (within FireFox 3.6.10) that allow extending and growing the edit screen downwards. This solves the problem with the edit box size. Thank you.

Advanced editing features I need are bullets, font size, and font color, most often. The problem is the length of time it takes for the "go advanced" edit features to show. So I wish these things were default in the quick edit screen.

You can always use BBcode in even the simplest editors to get every effect the forum is capable of. That's all I ever use, in lieu of the WYSIWYG editor.

Thanks Phil. I printed the BBcode list and can use this as a reference when composing pages offline and then merely paste the entire page into the post. It will also work for a small number of quick formatting fixes. Of course it's still preferable (when the 2nd edit page finally loads) to click once (on bullet icon lists, for example) rather than type out all that BBcode.
