Was the ability to edit old posts changed recently?

I went to correct/update a post made many months ago, and I found as of, today, I can no longer edit old posts.

Ok, someone changed something because I can no longer edit any post older than 5 minutes, where as before I had no issue editing any post as old as I want.

Anyone else notice this? Or is this specific to me?

IS this seriously how these forums are going to be run from now on?

I CAN'T stand forums that do this because sometimes posts are made with mistakes and aren't noticed for days sometimes.

The only reason other websites forum's moderators do this is because they like making people suffer for their mistakes in the posts. Its idiotic, and vindictive, because moderators get to edit old posts, and is used as a way to "STICK IT" to the average forum users.

People make mistakes, and should be allowed to correct them at any time.

We are all learning, so why should someones mistakes be allowed to misguide others?

Also, projects sometimes get updated, changed, etc, and if we can't edit old posts, then one is forced to constantly post a new reply to their post, essentially giving their post a "BUMP" to the top of all topics.

Do we REALLY want every single post addition and change to be made in the form of a new reply?

Please don't tell me this is the way this forum is going to stay?

    ANYONE?

Can SOMEONE let me know if this is the way this forum works for them now also?

Can you edit posts made more than 5 minutes ago?

A number of forum configuration settings were restored to their original values (pre-remigration) about 12 hours ago. I'll need to verify that this setting didn't get clobbered.

The time limit on post editing has been reset to 'unlimited'.

I was worried for a second there, because I have abandoned entire forums due to moderators and forum admins doing this to their forum users, I understand that most should make posts that they can stand behind, but it makes for a very negative forum atmosphere.

If anyone REALLY wants to force someone to live with things they say here, then that vengeful person can use the "QUOTE" button, and it will forever be immortally burnt into the archives of binary history.

People are... people, we all make mistakes... and forcing us to live with those mistakes, even if we have a change of heart, is just mean.

Life is about learning, and correcting our mistakes.... Not everyone is a perfectionist re-viewing the post 50 times before pushing submit.

This is taught to us all in school, making mistakes isn't a big deal, its what you do with the knowledge of that mistake after your taught the correction.

Good, the forums are back to normal, thank you!
