First Basic Stamp

Hello,

I'm working in the world of domotica and led lights these days.
We are using a lot of logic modules here, (zelio, millenium,...)
Most of the time we are using them for simple logic functions, toggle outputs, all outputs off with a single button press (1 second delay) or all on function (3 sec delay)

I wrote a nice basic stamp version of these logic functions and want to create our own logic modules for it.
I was planning to create some O-10V output modules too (dimmer functions) and a rgb controller (with pwmpal's), maybe an application with PINK's
My boss likes the idea.

But, he never used basic stamps before, and is asking questions about it: price, quality, reliability,...

My question: how can i convince him to order some stamps? (he is a little reticent...)

Price - See the prices in the webstore
    Quality - High
    Reliability - High

They're assembled from tested components by Parallax at their place of business and tested after assembly. How many microcontroller manufacturers feature a forum with as much advice as Parallax's with participation by the designers and implementers of the hardware and software let alone the founders and owners of the business.

    I know that Mike.
He's always asking to create such functions with an avr or pic.

You could always ask to be allowed to make one module using a Stamp and, while you're doing that, keep track of the development time and costs to compare against similar figures for a similar module developed with a PIC or AVR. Alternatively, you might be able to get permission to develop one module using two different designs (one Stamp, one AVR / PIC) and keep track of the same sort of information for both.

Remember that the BS2 actually has a PIC16F57 inside doing the work while the other Stamps have an SX microprocessor which was developed as a competitor, then, because of a patent lawsuit, was abandoned by Scenix (the developer).

    Hi Tumbler,

The quality and reliability of the basic stamp, but so is the cost. You can do a lot with one of these. Have you considered the propeller, it can do a lot of things simultaneously, has 40 pins and there are existing light effect/sound effect boards out there that you can modify.

    Just a thought.
