I have been looking for a low cost, small, well-designed radiation shield tower to house an SHT11 module outside as part of a weather station. Many of the solutions I have found were very expensive for some reason. DIY methods to make the housings seem to be a little cheesy and not done for long life.
Today, as part of a product we are assembling, I came across the Siemens AQF3100 Radiation Shield and it fits the bill perfectly.
Some pictures are attached showing how the unit is assembled. There are two different circular pieces that make up the entire assembly using long screws that attach to threaded standoffs in the center. You can see how the piece with the 6 holes is rotated to allow a continuous stackup with the added standoffs.
The sensor inserts into the bottom and it's enclosure mounts to the silver bracket. It would be very easy to adapt an SHT11 module into the same position.
They run $25 at MidwestBAS.
