dying to try a new DOS for the Prop. if you can post a link or just where to find it that would be great!
WBA Consulting's mention of a Parallel Printer Port reminds me of the Olivetti Praxis typewriter I purchased a long time ago. I paid an extra $100 (IIRC) to get a Parallel Port interface for it. Prying into the interface I discovered it used Cluso99's former favorite chip - the 68705. Maybe the quartz window and an unfavorable exchange rate vs the Lira explains the high price. Anyway, it would be interesting these many years later to plug the Olivetti into a CP/M machine and print Vedit documents. How retro would that be? Perhaps I'll use an SX to convert RS-232 to Parallel Printer port.
It works great for occasional typing but not necessarily as a heavy duty printer! You can also try printer interfaces available for the ETS 201/221, TES401, and models by Royal, Brother and Canon. Keep the print head strike hammer well lubed or you go through a lot of Daisy Wheels. For printing, a cloth ribbon and a re-inking kit are helpful.
