Catalyst game

And now for something completely out of the blue.
I used to play a game a long time ago, I don't remember if it was on the Color Computer or on one of my old XT machines, but you get the idea of the date.... I'd really like to find a remake (or make it myself) of this game, but I don't remember much about it other than I'd spend HOURS playing.
I think it was called "Catalyst" and if I remember correctly the player started with an small piece of........ I dunno element, or machine or something shaped like an "+". On each leg of the "+" were colors or some identifiable marks that only worked with other pieces with the same marks, flying in all directions across the screen.
As I remember you started with a base piece and controlled the thing with a joystick trying to capture other pieces to build a molecule. If the pieces collide too hard, or you captured the wrong piece, it would knock sections off your molecule.
Was it a dream or anyone else remember this? I find lots of Google results for Catalyst games, but nothing like what I'm looking for.

Whoa! That's kinda strange.... I'm gonna download it and try my hand at furthering the knowledge of mankind
Good news! I finally found it after search for xxx hours. It looks like I'm going to have to make it myself and improvise unless someone has a running color computer they can download and run the .BIN file for me
