I have find this -Ethernet to RS232- module at: http://cgi.ebay.com/TCP-IP-to-RS232-Ethernet-Serial-Bridge-Module-/290472809191?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a18752e7
The operation voltage is 3.3 or 5 VDC, and the network Services : DHCP, DNS, PPPoE, TFTP, HTTP, UDP,...I can't see the name of processor anywhere, but you can read more at the item pages.
The price is 15$+15$(shipping) which is the cheapest Ethernet to RS232 module that I could find, but there is no datasheet available, I have asked the seller about the datasheet, and waiting to his answer. By the way the seller's feedback scoor is -0- (till now)!

Edit:
I have received a 4 pages datasheet, which is not much, but you could see the web server and some more info.
The datasheet:http://www.uconnect.com.tw/downloads/Datasheets/TCPIPtoRS232.pdf
The manufacturer web-page:http://www.uconnect.com.tw/index.html

Without documentation, a lot of bargains are worthless. Buying from a 'new' dealer makes the whole process more risky. They may not know anything about what they are selling. Since they are in Taiwan, English may be a problem. But it still seems like a nice unit if it does what it is supposed to.

Taking a closer look at the EBay listing, it appears to be RS-422 or RS-485 capable, in addition to RS-232. What's posted on Ebay may be all the docs that you will ever get. The firmware seems to provide whatever documentation internally (HTML pages).

Nuts & Volts has a very competitive group of sellers for this type of interface that have been around a long time. If you want a bargain on EBay, I'd shop for their brands. Parallax has the PINK, but I am unclear if that will do RS232. I have a TINI400 which will easily do it, but that is also a lot more and retails around $100USD. Netmedia has another product, and so on. Even my Asus router can have RS232 added to it and be an Ethernet to RS232 portal through Linux firmware.

You mentioned that Asus router's can have the RS232 added to,... well, I have just received my Fonera+ router today (not unpack it yet) I'm thinking of reflash the Fonera+ with DD-WRT and use the TX-RX which is inside the router, in that case I would have a set of WiFi TX-RX. I have seen it at the internet, people do this kind of little hack to La Fonera router and to other routers as well, like Linksys router.

Like this one which is La Fonera connected to Arduino:

There are other code options, maybe Oleg the Russian's Linux code. I have an Asus, so that is what I am using.

In general, if you stay away from the HTML type of configurations, you get far more security.

I do like the chip offered on Ebay. It is just a matter of try it and see. Some of us can afford to do so, others cannot.
