You also might want to check out his DIY laptops. I can see someone making one with a keyboard, an LCD and a Prop!

I saw a Cray-1 a couple of years ago at the Musee des Arts et Metiers in Paris. I used one of Seymour Cray's earlier designs, the CDC 6600 belonging to London University, when I was studying psychology in the early 1970s.

The fact that it is binary compatible is amazing. The fact that it looks like a mini-Cray-1A is just icing on the cake.

Seymour Cray was an early computer engineering genius. A very interesting guy. In his honor I might name my firstborn "Cray" and the rest will be "atari"

I got to see a Cray 1 in 1981 when it was still the fastest computer in the world, in operation at a USAF facility in Colorado. It was in the center of a huge room full of more conventional looking peripherals (cabinet-sized tape and cartridge disk drives, etc.) It's a little mind blowing to realize that the 2 pound EEEpc I'm using to post this is far more powerful than that entire multi-million dollar installation.

LocalRoger . this is so true

the old 68030 mac I had when I was young was a whopping 75Mhz.
    $2900

now the prop is 80MHz and is $7 or so ?
Mind I have a super soft spot in my heart for older computers .

ya know it was SO SO SO fast for 1996 and 2GB of HD was like 2TB today.

Heck My Palm centro does more then the old mac did . and it fits in my pockit .

I want to say i was blessed growing up when I did , I saw the 386DX grow , I had to learn jumpers on MoBos . SCSI IDs IRQs . things most thease days take for granted .
I actuly used a chip puller to upgrade my dads tandy !!!!with more ram . its funny how those kits sold still have them in teh case .
