I've ha d a bit of sniff about on ebay, but most serial (SPI/I2C would do as well) are ether high $ or the 'seller' doesn't give me a high confidence factor. Probably because my 'chinglish' isn't great.
I know someone had a thread on serial LCDs once before {but the new search engine tells me that LCD is too short a word and keeps not searching on it}.
Doesn't have to be graphic capable. A simple 2 x 16 or 4 x 20 would be fine .Colour is not particularly important.
So do you have a good supplier? Care to share?
Thanks in advance...

Being in Europe a US seller is usually too expensive on the shipping side, while UK small packets are rather cheap..
There also is Brilldea serial graphics LCD

Maybe overkill..
If you wan to try to go for parallel there are cheaper options...

or Ray's colour graphics...
How many units you need?
I have a propeller spin object that works well with a very low cost i2c
2x16 serial lcd with backlight, USD 15 each.
www.basicx.com has a wide selection, but they are expensive.
Granted, there are objects to do parallel really easily on the propeller but I find it simpler to use a serial LCD in most situations.
