Hi,

I am trying to connect the GPS in the SMART mode but unfortunately
its not working. I not sure if I got the command right but this is what i have tried.

eg: !GPS 0x00
!GPS0
!GPS,GetInfo

Could someone please advice me on the command also I am trying to get the results via hyperterminal thru a RS232 chip.

Also, I notice that I'll be shorting the RX and TX pins together so based on what I found I tried putting a resistor in between as show in my attached pix. Could someone pls help me... The raw mode is working fine but I need my data via the SMART mode...

Thanks in Advance...

What are you using to talk to the GPS? i.e. Basic Stamp, Propeller, etc.

    Kennex,

I was going to suggest that it could be a voltage issue if you were using a Propeller (3.3V talking to 5V) .. stil could be with the RS232 chip though. Can you post a schematic of what you have and how everything is setup?

    "...its not working..." :\
in re. your dwg then, it's a 9-pin serial connector situation? HYP RX = pin_2, HYP TX = pin_3, and Gnd is on pin_5 (emphasis pin_3)? I'm curious about your interface here.

Post Edit -- Apparently you're getting data in one mode, so pin_2 is good. Pin_3 is solid, too?
