Hi all,

I mentioned this in another post, but I think it was too long and got lost. Anyway, The only purchasing option on Amazon is Used and the price ranges from $117 for acceptable condition, up to over $300 for good condition.:freaked: I've emailed the sellers, but have yet to get a response. I know it's come up in the past, but is there any other options available, like converting it to PDF or something. Thanks for any information.

James

Are they for real? $117 USD for the Inkjet book!

I have a copy here and the original cover price is $29.95. How about I provide you with some futher suggestions while I consider selling you mine.

First off, the ISBN # 0-9720159-3-0

Second, go to Abe Books at www.abebooks.com and run a search for used copies. Sometimes the ISBN is useless and you require the title to get results.

    "Inkjet Applications"

or "Inkjet Applications: Circuits with Basic Stamp2 and SX microcontrollers"

    Author: Matt Gilliland

    Try here

    http://www.directtextbook.com/prices/9780972015936

Someone seems to be selling it for $29.95 with FREE shipping. I'd prefer to keep mine as I have the kit.

There are several options, but the most direct is to talk to the author has he retained the copyright which is still in effect.

The publisher is defunct and their website is no longer.

Try author@mattgilliland.com I will drop him a line to see if he is reading his email and aware of the prices.

Visiting www.mattgilliland.com pretty much gives you an out-dated web page. But if he has any copies sitting around, you are likely to get the cover price or better. I just noticed I have a signed copy.

Frankly, the book isn't worth hundreds of dollars, without the kit it is nearly useless. And the whole kit never sold for over $150 USD. Those vendors are bums.

    Hi Loopy,

I'm not looking for anyone to sell me their personal copy, I'm just wanting to get my own. I tried Matt's website and the email got kicked back. I'll check out the other sites you listed. I've also run into ridiculous pricing on 3-4 year old inkjet printers. Thank goodness for Ebay. I think what happens is there is some kind of directory that will suggest prices based on the scarcity of products even if it's not something many people would buy.

EDIT: Now I'm really confused. DirectTextbooks found it at Amazon.ca for $47 Canadian from one of the same sellers on Amazon.com who is selling it for $270. ?!?

I don't recall seeing that printhead available on the parallax website anymore. Where else can you buy one?

I have been thinking about this and it is quite possible that the so-called books listed in Amazon are the entire kit, with text.

In that case, the $150-$300 listing make a bit more sense.

The kit allows your BOEbot to become a short-range 'paint ball' warrior or write text on the floor. And the card that controls the print head is a re-programmable SX board. All good stuff and still worth the list price (that was about $125 USD).

I poked around on the web quite a bit to try and see if I could reach Matt. Maybe one email got through, but several bounced.

Alright, so I went ahead and ordered the one from Amazon.ca for $45 plus shipping. I figured that was probably my best bet and I didn't want it to get away. I'm pretty sure the ones listed on Amazon.com weren't the whole kit, just a pricing program run amok and I'm not keen to spend that much money to find out. Thanks for the help guys. I'm sure I'll be back with questions.

I'm happy to help, but feel bad that you had to pay $45. That still seems a bit high to me. In some ways, the internet is less and less about providing information and more about selling. I liked it better 10 years ago.

    DOH!!! Figures.

Is that Matt selling the books, or did he just happen to find them there, because they I couldn't find it on ebay 2 days ago.

Oh well. I didn't want to let it get away because that looked like the only one I was going to be able to afford at the time.

Yes, that's Matt's eBay account- he has had the Inkjet Applications book off and on the site periodically. He heard about the ridiculous prices for his book on Amazon and eBay from this thread and decided to post them again (and at a reasonable price) since he hadn't put them on eBay again for a while...
