For 1.1 hours of print time I got a plastic one made. though i still have a fair bit of filing to do to get everything to fit perfectly. My only real trouble is the axles don't want to print out well. will be working on fixing that later tonight.
exactly no cut at all in the case and the pivot mechanism they use would not work. also the picture would be cut in half with that design.
By making the lid portion smaller then the portion with the picture you can keep a pivot between the sides to allow it to spin from heart to oval. by splitting the pivot point and burying it between layers you can make the top half spin off only when in the heart location. This is why my design uses 9 peaces and not the 3 shown in the movie.
that one is not like the movie. in the movie it only opens in the heart shape. they use a metal arm to keep the picture in the side when rotating. the movie just has an open drawer.
29 hours. It only took me 5 hours to make this pendent(not including design time). 3 to print, 2 to file and cut the pieces down to the precise shape and size needed.

is a simple design...it just has two pieces that move to
expose the small photo inside.
And you are right, if it could work like the one in the movie
is supposed to it would cut the photo in half.
