Reflection on reflection

I was just exchanging some parabolic halogen lamps for LED's and asked: why to throw away, what I never would be able to make. Couldn't such a parabolic mirror be used for a ping sensor? Place the microphone in the focus, and the sound generator in a different one, or the speaker to the front and the sensor directed backward.

There was a reflector like you described that was shown at UPEW and offered for sale. The PING was mounted in front facing into the reflector which was made from a curved sheet of plastic.
