IR Camera

Does anyone know where I can get an IR board camera that operates on 5v? I don't need something that has IR LEDs on it, just a CCD or CMOS sensor that can pick up IR. Also, need to be able to set the exposure time with an input line. So I need input/output lines and 5v power lines. Thanks.

Hello, as far as I know, there is alway an IR-filter before the sensor, because the chips are quite sensitive to IR. Remove this filter and do some testing. Inversely, an Visible light filter (IR-remote control as a source) could suppress daylight. But working in "dark" solves this problem too. ;-) ErNa

I found a camera that suits my needs that has an IR filter coating on the lens. I wasn't aware that simply removing the lens (with the coating) would solve the problem. Not even sure if I could remove the lens from the camera, and they want me to buy 500 units as a minimum order (something I really can't do since I'm still in the prototype phase). I suppose if I found a different camera that suited my needs that I could remove the filter from, I could give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion. Anyone else have ideas?

This RS232 serial JPEG compression camera does not have an IR cut filter
    - I wish it did! You can buy a filter though

Thanks Ron, this is closer to what I'm looking for. The frame-rate is a little slow, though. I need to be able to capture images at 1/32 of a second.

**EDIT** - Actually the frame rate probably has nothing to do with exposure time, which I need to be 1/32 of a second. Do you know if I can set the exposure time on this thing?

    pbhuter,
Don't think you can. It is pretty limited. I got it working with an Arduino, but pic quality isn't great...

I think it tries to adjust to light levels.

Ah, well then it won't work for me. I need something with low-light capability (which is part of the reason I'm going IR). Thanks, though.
