Find Me One Person

... who DOESN'T like robotics.

OK, maybe an old guy or two. But not me.

Maybe a priest or pastor. But not Whit. :)

Maybe a laid-off factory worker who got replaced by a robot.

I find it amazing that nearly everyone I meet and talk to is VERY interested in robots. Young, old, male, female, non-techie or Trekkie, most everyone eagerly anticipates home robots. Now people's expectations very widely, but in general there is great enthusiasm, not much fear.

Won't they be surprised to see my new Death ray on a Scribbler?

Sorry you're disappointed, pi'd. I hate to let people down. Tell you what; I have an extra Scribbler. When I get a moment, I'll put an autonomous flamethrower on it and have it do something "cool". OK?

erco - You are correct. Everybody loves robots... except Sarah Connor.

She died recently, but Patricia Neal would have to be on the "not so fond of robots" list.

OK, OK. But other than Patricia Neal, Sarah Conner, John Conner, Kyle Reese, the Flesh Fair guy, Beau Schwab's mom, Mother Teresa and a bunch of laid-off factory workers, it's a slam dunk, right?

I'm kind of straddling the fence on this one, erco. Robots are great if they are doing something useful...like building cars, exploring sea wrecks, or bashing on other robots for our entertainment. Otherwise, ehhh.

    And K2...

    But everybody else loves robots!

Oh and Del Spooner (Will Smith) at least in the first 3/4s of I, Robot.

    But everybody else...

Who doesn't? Well, my brother isn't very fond of robots, mainly because mine are slow and can't serve you a sandwhich and a Coke on demand. :-)

P.S. What opted Beau Schwab's mom onto that list???

In Asia it seems the consensus is all for robots, the kind that help people. You really don't need to put a flame-thrower on one and roast your neighbor's.......................marshmallows.

But I always thought roasting neighbors' marshmallows was considered helping people? Or at least that's what I was taught in boy scouts.
