Dang Nab It, Hydra is deal of the day

Proto Boards were deal of the day Friday. Okay so I have to buy the manditory* five boards. I thought to myself "I ought to get the Hydra book that everyone says is so good." No luck, it was sold out.

Well the Hydra book is discussed some more recently and Harley says it's great. So yesterday I wonder "Have I every seen the Hydra go on deal of the day?" I couldn't remember it being. I thought yesterday "Well if the Hydra book is sold out then maybe I'll just have to buy myself a Hydra Kit just so I can get a proper Propeller education. If it every goes on deal of the day I'll get it." I thought this was a safe thing to say to myself, never having seen the Hyra Kit on deal of the day.

The problem is I also thought to myself recently (after buying Rayman's PTP, two $60 LiPo packs someone else on the forum told me about, five Propeller Protoboards Friday) "I've got to stop spending so much money of Propeller stuff."

So what do I do? Do I go with my "stop spending" plan or "proper Propeller education" plan. I have until tomorrow morning to decide right? Parallax is really twisted tormenting me this way.

Duane

* Do I really have to explain why it's manditory? Proto boards. Deal of the day.

I am sorely tempted. I already have a copy of the Hydra book (though it's loaned to someone who might not give it back). I don't really need a Hydra and I'm really too busy doing other stuff to develop games but I'd kind of like to have it out of a sense of, I dunno, completeness.

Problem is I just bought 8 PropMod US modules which I won't be expensing because they're also more for personal project interest (we really don't do a lot of battery stuff at work so while da boss would probably pay for them, I don't feel right asking him to.) And while I had no problem at all asking da boss to pay for my Morpheus, I really would feel weird asking him to spring for a Hydra that I really don't need at this point.

Bill has me covered on PropCade at least since it can be populated for more industrial targeted uses.

max72, I downloaded the Hydra CD immediately after they announced it. As far as I can tell, it does not include the Hydra book. I hope I'm wrong, but I searched through the CD trying to find it with out any luck.

The CD does have the ebook Black Art of 3D Game Programming but not the Hydra book.

This is true. There is no copy of the book text on the CD.

Parallax wins this round. But next time they make me "an offer I can't refuse" I'm calling Uncle Vinnie.

    Sorry.
Being the Hydra book B&W I assumed in the CD there should be a colour copy.
Anyway the book is an inspiring source... on the next deal grab it!

max72, When I said "Parallax wins this round," I ment to imply I did purchase the Hydra kit.

Fortunately today's deal of the day is for basic stamp stuff so I can resist it.
