Has anybody interfaced to the controllers on the powered chairs?

The drives are made by P&G I contacted them already for info.

I sure someone has done this already.

    Hmmm....
I am getting visions of a designer Scandinavian chair with Italian leather that has some heavy mods to make it an ultimate comfort.

How about self-leveling a one feature?
Light following for snoozing in the sun?
Line following that puts it into exactly where you want it?

Yes. Sort of. I attempted to tap into the serial stream of a Jazzy power chair. I was able to read the data but when I sent data to it, it would not respond. I suspect that there is some bidirectional communication going on.

On an Invacare power chair I replaced the joystick with a digital pot, that seems to work okay but controls feel mushy.

A problem with using the wheelchair controllers is that there is going to be intermediate processing of your commands - precise control is problematic. Simpler to sell the P&G controller on eBay and reinvest in a motor controller.
