Can't log out!

I haven't been able to log out for the last several days. The forum pops up a message that says all cookies have been cleared - after I click on 'logout', but I am still logged in. No rush on this, I don't mind being logged in all the time!

How do you know you're still logged in? If you still see your name in the list of logged-in members on the bottom of the screen, you will have to do a page refresh to make it go away.

Phil - when the new forum first started I had to log back in whenever I wanted to post. Now even if I logout and go to another site whenever I come back to forums it says I'm logged in.

I also had a friend of mine connect to the forums while I was logged out and it still shows my screen name in the list on the forums main page.

Are you (or someone impersonating you) logged in on another machine? After you log out, what shows up when you check to see which forums have unread posts? Is your "Welcome, ratronic" message still in the upper-righthand corner of the screen when you reload the page?

I did log in on this machine with firefox once before but I just checked and firefox shows me as logged out. I.E. is the one showing me logged in all the time.

I usually use I.E. - yes and every time I fire up my computer in the morning and come to the forums I get the welcome message with logout
listed below it - even if I logged out the night before.

Check your IE settings. There's probably a "log in automatically" box checked somewhere.

I have but I can't think of a setting in I.E. that would automatically log me back in after I have already logged out. I just checked on my laptop sitting here and it logs me in and out ok.

So I know it has to be something with this particular machine. Do you have any idea on the particular settings? Thanks for taking the time to talk to me with this Phil.

Also - I called a friend and had him bring up the forum from his house while I was logged out and my machine shut off and he sees my screen name still listed on the forums page.

As long as you've got IE running, you'll probably be logged back in as soon as you log out. So first, exit IE, then log in and out with Firefox and, finally, call your friend to see if you're logged in. I would guess not. BTW, why do you even use IE when you've got Firefox?

The only time I use firefox is when I boot my machine up with linux (ubuntu) . I have went back and logged in and out in linux and in windows.

The only time I am stuck logged in is when I am in Windows7 in I.E. on this machine. I figured the forum would log me out! I'm not real worried about it as I usually log in every day. Thanks Phil.

I have seen this on a couple of my development systems. I had to actually go into the advanced browser settings and delete the specific forum cookie in order to get this logout feature to work correctly.

Hi Jim - It's fixed now. But thats how I did it, I ran a program that I use once in a while called Ccleaner which one of the things it does is clean out all of the cookies in the browser. And for anybody else that might read this, thats a free program (google it). It also cleans up your registry.
