UPENE Friday Supper

As in the past I would like to put together a supper on Friday evening. While most of the group will be staying in Norwalk, I was able to find a better rate in Milan. Can somebody suggest a meeting place in Norwalk?

If somebody else would like to do this, I will not be offended. In fact this may be my last UPENE since I will be relocating to Florida in November which will make my 8 hour drive a 17 hour drive.

    sailman58,

This is my first UPENE and I have never been to Norwalk, but me and my friend would be glad to join you for supper.

Sounds great!! ... does anybody remember the name of the mom and pop restaurant last year that we 'closed down' ... I think we kept them up past their bed time. They were nice about it, but all the same, they were waiting for us to leave so they could close for the day.

    Hi Beau,

I just checked for restaurants in Milan, OH and came up with Maws Place. Does that sound right?

That could be it or at least a likely candidate :-)

As I remember it, they blinked the lights a couple of times. They were great folks and the food was good too.

"They were great folks and the food was good too." - That was one of the reasons I mentioned it. Aside from the good company and table manners (<-for some of us  )

Just give us a time and place.

I'll be around Friday night and I'm interested (unless OBC needs some help setting up at the same time).

I should be arriving sometime in the afternoon. I'm planning to take the day off and it's only a 4-hour (or so) drive.

So, we're going to invade the same folks we forced to stay late last year??? Wouldn't it make more sense to do one of the following:

    * Find a different place that is normally open later.
    * Call them, and see if we can "pre arrange" a late evening
    * Make it clear to attendees (and the restaraunt) that we will leave by x:xx, and head over to another location (possibly one that serves liquid refreshements)

I'm hoping (and planning) to be there, but right now it's 50/50...

I'm going to be arriving mid-morning. Then I need to find a place to stay (I hate pre-booking things). Then I'm free.

I'd be interested in meeting and talking with all of you all.

OBC I'm hip to help you setup too.

OK, just to get this a little further off the ground. Unless somebody wants to modify this the plan will be:

Meet in the lobby of the Days Inn in Milan, OH at 6:00 PM
    Days Inn Milan/Cedar Point South
    11410 State Rt 250
    I-80/90 & State Rt 250
    Milan, OH 44846 US

The current place of choice is Maws Place which closes at 9:00

    Let's do a head count

I've love to join you guys, but we'll be making the run to roll out the canvas and setup tables/chairs Friday night. If someone decides they need to get in the night before to setup a complex project or just carry a few chairs, we'll likely be on location around 7pm.

Can we get the address of Maws Place? ... My flight gets in at about 5:20pm and it's about an hour drive from the airport to the hotel. I would imagine I could get to the restaurant by at least 7:00pm after checking in, car rental , etc.

    Beau,

Here is the address that I got fron the internet:

    12211 Us Highway 250 N
    Milan, OH 44846

As I recall, it sits back from the highway and is a little tough to find. If we meet at the Days Inn at 6:00, we probably won't get there before 6:30.

My cell phone number is 410-245-5784 if you need it.

I'm going to help OBC setup at 7:00pm. If it's not too late I might head over.
What time do you think you will be there until ?

I'm in the same category as Bean. I'll be helping set up, and head over if I can. Where will the gang be heading after 9:00?

I think that this will apply to us also. I will need to head over to the Community Center to take a look at and set up my "class room."

After that, we will probably head over to Maw's, though.

I'm in this category, too. I've helped roll up mats at UPENE - but I've never gotten to unroll them before.

Maybe we should arrange for those dining to keep us updated if we need/want to meet somewhere else after dinner.

If someone that will defitely be at the dinner, and would be interested in meeting up latter with the group doing setup want to PM me, I'll share my cell number on behalf of those doing the setup.
