Eliminate truncation on subject lines?

While keeping title/subject lines on the main forum index may keep things "short and brief", I personally find the truncatations too short, and make it hard to see what a thread is about before visiting the thread.
Is it possible to turn that off so the full thread title is displayed? I would rather see the occasional and brutally long title than the short and unhelpful title.
E.g., the title of this very thread is certainly brief and descriptive, yet you can't see the whole title on the main index. And the crucial part is not shown ... i.e., truncation of what?

And why is the "Automatic vacation Fish Feeder" subject line in you little screen capture not truncated? It ends up being longer.
Using Firefox on Debian here.
I'm sure this is way down the list of priorities for tweaking the new forum, though.

And of course, it's just a small request
How come the subject line "Eliminate truncation on subject lines?" is not truncated with ellipsis added, as shown in the little screen shot, for me here?
Presuming this thread is still the first one in "support for" category.
Sorry, yes of course you are right, I don't think I've ever bothered to read that column:)
