Hey guys, I'm worried I will damage the pins of the propeller due to taking it and putting it back into the breadboard, is there a socket large enough for the propeller USB version, I really don't know the name of it so can someone link me?

What you are looking for is called a ZIF, or Zero Insertion Force, socket. You will need one that is for a DIP-40, or 40 Pin Dual In-line Pin.

Jameco has one (maybe more): Part no. 102753, $9.75 each

[Edit] Actually, I think that this is what you want. Are you asking about protecting the Propeller chip itself? If so, then the ZIF should cover you, otherwise, let us know and we will try to help.

From the PropStick USB page: (http://www.parallax.com/Store/Microcontrollers/PropellerChips/tabid/142/CategoryID/18/List/0/SortField/0/Level/a/ProductID/411/Default.aspx)
The PropStick USB is a rapid development tool for the powerful 8-cog multiprocessing Propeller microcontroller. The flexibility of a 40-in DIP package is combined with the convenience of an onboard Propeller ...

So, yes that uses a DIP-40 package and should fit into a ZIF socket. The only possible glitch I can see (never had that package) is if the header pins on the board (the ones that plug into the breadboard) are considerably thicker than a standard DIP package. But in that case, you probably don't have to worry about breaking the pins - unless your lab assistant, Igor, is an 800 Lb gorilla. ;)

    Yep, that should work.

Sounds good - Good luck with your playing (err... experimenting. :))

BTW from your handle; were you in the Corp? If so, Semper Fi, man, from an old Fly-Boy! (Fly High!)
